Female Afghan army cadets at a target-shooting practice session yesterday at the Officers Training Academy in the south Indian city of Chennai. A team of 19 female officers are undergoing the training, which is part of the Afghan National Army's efforts to recruit more women. The officers receive weapons and tactical training at the academy, and are also given lessons on leadership and human resource management. The one-month training will end on Dec 26.
