A FATHER in India took justice into his own hands, torturing and killing the man who allegedly raped his underage daughter before giving himself up to the police.
The incensed father invited the alleged rapist, a 45-year-old medical supplier, to his home last Friday night on the pretext of wanting to discuss an issue and even served him dinner, The Indian Express reported.
The father then tied him to a chair and burnt the man's genitals with hot tongs before strangling him to death, he told the police in a confession.
"I burned his genitals once, he screamed. I did it again, he shuddered. When I did it the third time..he did not move," The Indian Express quoted the father's confession to the police.
Police earlier said the father from northeast Delhi had been planning the murder since he learnt about a week ago that his 14-year-old daughter had been raped. Later he said he did not mean to kill the man.
The supplier had reportedly called on his house two months ago, and finding the girl alone at home, raped her. He threatened the girl, and told her not to tell anyone.
But she complained of morning sickness and dizziness, and doctors found that she was pregnant. She then told her shocked parents that she had been raped.
Her father said he questioned her alleged attacker using the tongs, but got angry when the man used "offensive language".
After he realised he had killed the man, he wept, then went to the police to confess.
"The body of the supplier was found on the bed, with his hands and mouth tied with a towel," a policeman was quoted as saying.
The father said he did not report the rape to the police earlier as he feared it would give his daughter a bad reputation.
