Body of Indian woman murdered in Australia arrives home

(REUTERS) - The body of an Indian woman murdered in Australia last week arrived in the southern state of Karnataka late on Saturday (March 14) and was handed over to her family.

Prabha Arun Kumar was talking on a phone to her husband in India when she was attacked with a sharp blade in Parramatta Park in Sydney last Saturday (March 7) night.

She died in hospital in the early hours of March 8.

Kumar's brother-in-law, Prashant Kumar, said the final rites would be conducted at her parents' house in Mangalore city today.

Australian police have said they are still unable to say why the mother of one, who reportedly planned to return to India in April, was targeted as she walked through a park in the western Sydney suburb of Parramatta.
