Onlookers gathering around the bodies of passengers who had been travelling in a lorry that plunged off a bridge in western India yesterday.
At least 30 people - mostly women and children - died when the lorry, carrying a wedding party, fell off the bridge in the Bhavnagar district, in India's Gujarat state, a police official said. Initial investigations indicated that the driver had lost control, causing the lorry to swerve off the bridge and fall 8m onto a dry riverbed.
Officials indicated that the toll could rise as many of the passengers remained trapped under the lorry, which overturned. Other injured victims were rushed to hospital.
