5 convicted of gang rape of tourist in Delhi

NEW DELHI • A court has convicted five men of the gang rape of a Danish tourist in New Delhi in 2014.

They were yesterday found guilty of the rape and robbery of the 52-year-old woman.

US Navy slaps alcohol ban on staff in Japan

TOKYO • The United States Navy said it has imposed an alcohol ban on its staff in Japan as Tokyo condemned a military drink-driving case in Okinawa where an officer allegedly drove and injured two people.

US sailors are banned from drinking, both on and off base, for an undetermined period, US Naval Forces Japan yesterday said.

One pillion rider only, says Bangladesh

DHAKA • Bangladesh slapped a ban on more than one person riding pillion on a motorcycle after the wife of an anti-terror police official was shot dead by three men on a motorbike.

Interior Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said yesterday that motorcyclists will not be allowed to carry a spouse and child.
