Pakistan wants peace with India and the two sides should resolve problems through dialogue, Pakistani President Arif Alvi said during a military parade following a confrontation between the nuclear-armed neighbours. The President also warned India in his Republic Day speech that Pakistan was well-armed.

A party backed by the ruling junta won the most votes in Thailand's election, partial results revealed by the Election Commission indicated yesterday. But unofficial sources said a rival party linked to former premier Thaksin Shinawatra had the edge.
