China's inflation data
China will report its inflation rate for August today. In July, the country's consumer inflation rate decelerated to 1.8 per cent from 1.9 per cent in June. This fell well below the government target of about 3 per cent.
Investors are expecting that continued weakness in inflation will give the central bank more room to ease monetary policy as the economy slows.
