Tropical storm set to hit Vietnam

Vietnam is preparing for the Dianmu tropical storm, which is expected to make landfall today. It could directly affect the northern and central coastal areas, said the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting. It is the third storm to hit the country so far this year.


Launch of book on Indian community

A book on the Indian community here will be launched today at the Indian Heritage Centre in Campbell Lane. The title, 50 Years Of Indian Community In Singapore, highlights the community's progress and economic and political contributions, as well as the challenges it has faced since independence in 1965. Topics include visual arts, music, food and culture. The book is edited by ambassadors Gopinath Pillai and K. Kesavapany.

Monetary Authority of Singapore managing director Ravi Menon is scheduled to give a speech today - the second day of a conference on fintech and financial inclusion. It is organised by the Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics at the Singapore Management University.
