New domain name initiatives

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, which oversees domain names on the Web, will today announce new initiatives in Thailand.

This will involve an expansion of domain names, as well as the possibility of using Thai in a domain name.


Berita Harian Achiever of the Year

A successful Malay/Muslim individual will be named the Berita Harian Achiever of the Year for his or her accomplishments. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam will present the award to the winner at a gala dinner today. The Malay newspaper will also give awards to two outstanding Malay/Muslim people aged 30 or below, and to three pioneers of the community in religion, language and the arts.


5,000 SME bosses gathering here

Bosses of about 5,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are expected to attend the 17th Annual SMEs Conference, 18th Infocomm Commerce Conference and the SME Expo 2015 starting today. They will listen to more than 60 speakers and experts from Singapore, China, Japan and Taiwan as well as participate in 26 tracks and workshops over two days. Trade and Industry Minister Lim Hng Kiang will deliver the opening address this morning.
