Wanted in 1MDB case, Jho Low was last known to be in Macau, says Malaysia's police chief

PUTRAJAYA - Malaysian financier Low Taek Jho's last known location was in Macau, Malaysia's police chief Mohamad Fuzi Harun said on Thursday (July 5).

"The latest we know is that he was in Macau. In fact the other day we sent our team to Hong Kong but immediately when we arrived, he left for Macau," Tan Sri Fuzi told reporters in Putrajaya as reported by news site Malaysiakini.

He said Malaysian police had looked for him in Hong Kong, but did not say when the police were in the southern Chinese city.

Mr Low, also known as Jho Low, is wanted in Malaysia for questioning in the huge scandal involving state fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad.

The Malaysian Immigration Department had on June 15 cancelled Mr Low's passport.

Immigration director-general Mustafar Ali told The Star newspaper on Wednesday this was done at the request of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
