KUALA LUMPUR • Johor's long-serving MP Shahrir Samad isn't fazed by the prospect of facing an opposition in the southern Malaysian state now led by former Umno strongmen Mahathir Mohamad and Muhyiddin Yassin.

Tan Sri Shahrir, 68, is certain that Umno's Malay support in its birthplace remains strong.
