PETALING JAYA (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - A huge tree fell in front of Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) on Monday morning (March 5), injuring a motorcyclist and his pillon rider and causing gridlock in the city centre.

In a Twitter post, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) said the incident happened at Jalan Ampang, heading towards Avenue K.

DBKL said the falling tree struck some people in the area, adding that traffic police and the Fire and Rescue Department were on site.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department director Khiruddin Drahman told Bernama that the incident occurred about 7.30am and both the victims had been sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

"Work is being carried out by DBKL to clean the area of debris," he said.
