Schemes to wire up country could help improve policy, says minister

Machine-readable welfare cards replaced cash payouts last year when the Thai government revamped its aid for about 11 million poor people.

Free broadband Internet access was also given to 24,700 remote villages as part of a larger effort to wire up far-flung parts of the country.
