BANGKOK - Thailand's government passed its first test surprisingly easily. Three days of debate over the introduction of its first draft Budget last week culminated in a Lower House vote which passed with 251 votes in the 500-seat chamber. The opposition bloc, trailing the governing coalition by just seven seats, abstained.

At least 900,000 viewers watched the debate broadcast live online, as legislators uploaded on social media the same slides presented in Parliament.
