Spotlight on adequacy of tsunami warning system

As Indonesia reels from another disaster, the country's early warning system is again in the spotlight following questions over whether the tsunami alert after last Friday's magnitude-7.4 quake in Central Sulawesi was lifted prematurely.

The claims, initially made on social media and then reported by some Western news outlets at the weekend, have since been dismissed by the meteorology, climatology and geophysics agency, BMKG.
