BANGKOK - A Singapore start-up's financial app has become a key mode of payment in a new Myanmar border city touted by its backers as a future blockchain hub.

But the Myanmar government is now probing the US$15 billion (S$20.5 billion) Yatai New City over the legality of its operations, which some allege centre on gambling.
