If an election for the Philippine president were held today, Mr Rodrigo Duterte's daughter and political heir would likely top the race.

Ms Sara Duterte-Carpio, mayor of the Duterte family stronghold of Davao City, successfully steered a loose coalition of seven political parties allied with her father to a landslide victory in the closely watched Senate race in this week's midterm elections.
