KOTA KINABALU - Malaysia’s Election Commission has set Nov 29 for polling in the Sabah state election.

The commission’s chairman, Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun, said nomination day for the by-election has been set for Nov 15, and early voting will be on Nov 25.

The campaign period will span 14 days from Nov 15 to 11.59pm on Nov 28, said the commission on Oct 16.

It has appointed a total of 25 returning officers, and they will be tasked with handling the polling process for 73 state constituencies.

As at Oct 5, there are a total of 1,784,843 registered voters in Sabah, of whom 1,760,417 are public voters, 11,697 from the armed forces and their spouses, 12,729 police officials and their spouses, as well as the general operations force.

On Oct 6, Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Mohd Noor announced the dissolution of the state assembly. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
