PKR Youth wants PAS chief to retract statement on Wan Azizah

KLANG (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - PKR youth wing has called for PAS president Datuk Seri Hadi Awang to retract his statement on labelling Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as 'unqualified' and 'incapable' of administrating the Selangor government.

PKR Youth chief, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said it was uncalled for to say his party president lacked leadership qualities, citing that Dr Wan Azizah had led PKR since 1998 and was endorsed as Opposition Leader in 2008, which also supported by Hadi Awang then.

"After PAS met separately and later at the Pakatan Leadership Council, whereby both meetings endorsed Dr Wan Azizah (as candidate for the post), Hadi Awang's statement saying that she is incapable is not appropriate," he said in a statement issued on Sunday.

The Seri Setia assemblyman also urged Hadi Awang to respect the decision made by PAS central leadership and Pakatan Leadership Council, adding that such a statement was putting a test on the friendship of Pakatan coalition.

In a ceramah in Terengganu, the PAS president had said that Dr Wan Azizah did not fulfil certain criteria to hold the Selangor Mentri Besar position.

Hadi Awang questioned her leadership by stating that she did not have the ability to debate questions in Parliament or the state assembly.
