President Rodrigo Duterte yesterday hailed warming ties between the Philippines and China as "positive and mutually beneficial engagement", and said they served as a model for the rest of the world.

"Bilaterally, the Philippines is showing how complex relations are not a bar to a positive and mu-tually beneficial engagement," Mr Duterte said in a speech at the Boao Forum For Asia in Hainan, China.
