Expected showdown talks at the leadership meeting of Malaysia's ruling Pakatan Harapan (PH) today may calm some jitters over the near-term stability of the government, but uncertainty over whether and when Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will replace Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad is set to continue swirling.

Plans to reconstitute the ruling pact to exclude supporters of Mr Anwar, who is president of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), gained steam even as his allies cranked up the pressure for him to take over as prime minister as soon as May.
