Malaysia election: Najib, Mahathir rally crowds in bid to swing Malay vote

Both hold huge rallies in KL, to sway voters likely to return to home towns to cast ballots

Prime Minister Najib Razak and his chief rival Mahathir Mohamad both held huge rallies minutes apart in the nation's capital yesterday evening.

They were hoping to swing not just important parliamentary seats in Kuala Lumpur, but also voters from the Malay majority who are likely to return to their home towns and influence the May 9 vote nationally.
