Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin's popularity and his administration's Covid-19 relief initiatives were key to his alliance securing victory at the Sabah state election last Saturday, analysts say.
Despite the fractious relations between members of his newly-banded Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), the pact emerged victorious with 38 of the 73 state assembly seats. Its main opponent and the incumbent government Warisan Plus secured 32 seats.
