Missing MAS plane: Former Perak Menteri Besar Nizar's tweet draws flak

PETALING JAYA (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Former Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin angered netizens on Saturday after he posted an allegedly insensitive tweet on the MH370 missing plane crisis.

"New Bermuda triangle detected in Vietnam waters, well-equipped sophisticated devices are of no use!" he posted, referring to the area of the North Atlantic where several planes and ships disappeared inexplicably.

He was responding to CNN news anchor Piers Morgan's comment that it was "incredible" a high-tech passenger plane could just disappear in the modern age.

"Praying for a miracle for the 239 people on board," tweeted Morgan.

The Malaysian Twitter sphere immediately criticised Nizar's remarks, calling them insensitive.

"You think it's funny?!" tweeted user @adrianNCF.

"Wah, malunya saya nampak tweet dari encik tadi. Maaf tapi rasanya tak sesuai nak bersenda dalam hal," tweeted @imrinasution. (Wow, I was embarrassed for you when I saw your tweet. Sorry, but it's inappropriate to joke like that.")

Twitter user @SampahRemajaKL said "badut" (clown) while @Marrsyaa tweeted "I'm a 16 year old kid (and) can think rationally ... while you as a leader (are) making fun of it."
