SINGAPORE - Minister for Foreign Affairs K Shanmugam will attend the two-day Asean Foreign Ministers' Retreat in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia to be held from Tuesday.
This is the first in the series of Asean Foreign Ministers' Meetings under Malaysia's chairmanship of the Association of South East Asian Nations (Asean) in 2015.
The Asean foreign ministers will take stock of the group's Community-building and integration efforts at the retreat, as well as exchange ideas on the Asean Community's Post-2015 Vision and discuss ways to further strengthen the regional grouping.
They will also discuss Asean's relations with its external partners and exchange views on regional and international issues, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
This year marks an important milestone for Asean as it will realise the establishment of an Asean Community by the end of the year, the MFA said.
Minister Mr Shanmugam will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
