Youth rejected by Malaysia's public universities 'a critical voter base' in next general election

KUALA LUMPUR - Nearly 20,000 university applicants who have good enough grades to gain entry into public universities have failed to be admitted because of the stiff competition for 71,615 places.

As these students are going to be first-time voters at the next general election, this could have ramifications for Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob's government, said some observers.
