Malaysia's opposition Parti Keadilan Rakyat VP arrested over rally involvement

PETALING JAYA (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Malaysia's opposition Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice president Tian Chua was arrested on Friday for his involvement in the #KitaLawan rally held earlier this month.

Tian Chua, who is also a Member of Parliament, was arrested when giving his statement at the Dang Wangi police station in Kuala Lumpur.

PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil confirmed the arrest.

Tian Chua is believed to be the 11th person to be detained over the rally.

On March 7, groups of protesters converged at Sogo Shopping Complex for the #KitaLawan rally.

The rally was intended as a show of support for Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who was jailed five years after being found guilty of sodomising his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.
