MELAKA – A four-year-old boy was found dead at a People’s Housing Project flat in Krubong, a town in Melaka, after he was believed to have been playing with a lighter, says the Malaysian state’s Fire and Rescue Department.
The victim’s mother told the authorities that her son had been playing with a lighter before the tragedy occurred at around 2.20pm on May 16, said Senior Fire Superintendent Mohd Shahrom Laji, assistant director of the department’s operations division.
He said the child – the fourth of five siblings – was found dead in the third bedroom of the flat on the sixth floor, lying on the floor with burn injuries.
“However, the actual cause of death is still under investigation and the body of the victim has been handed over to the police for further action,” he added. THE STAR/ ASIA NEWS NETWORK
