Malaysia PM Najib to appear in special TV session at 10pm, expected to address Mahathir's criticism

PETALING JAYA (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Razak will appear in a special question and answer session on TV3 on Thursday.

In the interview, which will air at 10pm local time (10pm Singapore time), Mr Najib is expected to address questions on politics, the country's economy and certain allegations brought up by former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad.

In a blog post on April 2, Dr Mahathir had upped his criticism of Mr Najib and the government, saying that Barisan Nasional (BN) could lose power in the 14th general election over its poor handling of issues such as 1MDB and the murder of Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu.

Following Dr Mahathir's criticism, many BN politicians have voiced their support for Mr Najib's leadership and said that he should continue leading the country.
