JAKARTA • Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad was greeted by Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport when he arrived in Jakarta yesterday for a two-day official visit.

This is Tun Dr Mahathir's first visit to a South-east Asian nation since being sworn in as Prime Minister for the second time on May 10, a day after winning the general election.

Dr Mahathir took part in a dinner and dialogue session with the Malaysian community in Indonesia yesterday evening.

Today, he is scheduled to meet Mr Joko at Istana Bogor, before they attend Friday prayers at the mosque in the premises. This will be followed by a luncheon hosted by Mr Joko.

Dr Mahathir will also meet with the Malaysia-Indonesia Business Council.

He will head back to Malaysia in the evening.

Since he became premier for the second time, Dr Mahathir has left the country only once, when he attended a conference in Tokyo earlier this month.
