JOHOR BARU • Johor's Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar yesterday got onto a KTM train and drove it 180km from Johor Baru to Segamat town in the north of the state.

The specially rented train with six coaches was driven by him, with two Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) drivers on hand, from JB's Sentral station, Bernama news agency reported.

It was the ninth time that Sultan Ibrahim had driven a KTM train. The ruler has a locomotive driving licence that he obtained in 2010.

His last trip to Segamat driving a train was in July 2013, Bernama said.

When the last KTM train made its way out of Singapore's Tanjong Pagar station in June 2011, it was also driven by Sultan Ibrahim.
