JOHOR BARU (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK, BERNAMA ) - A Johor policeman has been removed from his patrol unit following a viral photo of him being "friendly" with a woman dressed in short pants and a singlet, the second incident involving cops in the Malaysian state in recent days.

Pictures of the policeman holding the hands of the woman while sitting inside the patrol car have gone viral on social media.

State police chief Commissioner Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd said on Monday (Oct 9) the policeman from the Segamat district police headquarters has been removed from the unit with immediate effect.

In an update on Tuesday, he said another policeman had also been in the car at the time.

"There were two policemen inside the car and we are investigating both of them," he said, adding that the other officer has also been removed from patrol duty.

He added that the new duties of both officers did not involve meeting or engaging with the public.

The incident comes after seven Johor policemen filmed at a nightclub in Muar were transferred to other departments on Monday.

A video, which went viral on Facebook, allegedly showed the policemen - believed to be from the D7 unit of the Muar district police headquarters - "having fun" at an entertainment centre.
