Visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif calling on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana yesterday.

Dr Zarif, who is on a three-day visit to Singapore, also met his counterpart, Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, earlier in the day, according to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs press statement. Dr Zarif briefed Dr Balakrishnan on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Iran's nuclear programme. Under the JCPOA, Iran agreed to curtail its nuclear programme in return for the lifting of sanctions imposed by the United States, the European Union and the United Nations.

Dr Balakrishnan congratulated Dr Zarif on the promulgation and implementation of the JCPOA.

Both ministers agreed that Iran's full compliance with its international obligations will help ensure its integration with the global community.

Dr Zarif also met Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Speaker of Parliament Halimah Yacob yesterday.

He was hosted to lunch by Minister for Home Affairs and Law K. Shanmugam. Dr Zarif leaves Singapore for Brunei today.
