Indonesia’s housing minister cancels plan for subsidised 18 sq m houses

Indonesia’s Housing and Settlement Areas Minister Maruarar Sirait has cancelled a plan to build 18 sq m subsidised houses after receiving public feedback.

“Today, first, we offer an apology. I have an idea and perhaps it is not appropriate. But the intention is good,” Mr Maruarar said on July 10 during a working meeting with the House of Representatives’ Commission V, which oversees transportation and infrastructure, as reported by Indonesian news site Kompas.com.
