Indonesia is considering sending fishermen to report irregular activities in the waters north of Natuna Islands, near the contested South China Sea, following China's demand that the country stop drilling for oil and gas in the area.
Colonel Wisnu Pramandita, spokesman for the Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla), told The Straits Times that the state will train and pay fishermen to join patrols by the agency and the navy.
