KUPANG (East Nusa Tenggara) • Raja Leopold Nicolaas Nisnoni may carry the title King of Kupang, the capital of Indonesia's East Nusa Tenggara province, but he strongly believes all men are created equal.

The 82-year-old royal inherited the throne in 1992 after the death of his father, Don Alfonsus Nisnoni. His strong belief in egalitarianism is attributable to his education in the Netherlands when he was a teenager in the late 1940s.
