Final pitch for votes: Boot out govt that brought disaster, urges Mahathir

As fireworks, a lucky draw and a concert raged on nearby, former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad sombrely urged his countrymen to vote for the opposition and change the government.

In a final message before polling, streamed live on Facebook and beamed on jumbo screens at opposition rallies across the country, the 92-year-old said the government under Prime Minister Najib Razak "has brought disaster".
