China national in Sabah kidnapped by armed men rescued

KOTA KINABALU - A China national who was kidnapped by armed men in Lahad Datu in May has been rescued, said a report.

Yang Zai Lin was rescued on Thursday morning, New Straits Times quoted Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar as saying.

Yang, 34, is now in Sandakan and is expected to be flown to Kuala Lumpur on Thursday before being sent back to China.

The fish farm manager was kidnapped by a group of armed men on Pulau Baik on May 6. He was reportedly taken to a notorious Abu Sayyaf stronghold at Jolo Island in southern Philippines.
