KOTA KINABALU (THE STAR/ ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Operations at the Putatan health clinic in Malaysia were halted when a section of its ceiling collapsed on Monday afternoon (Jan 29).

It is understood that the fallen ceiling at the pharmacy section did not hit anyone.

Reporter Kenn Eddy Jr was accompanying his pregnant wife there when the plaster ceiling collapsed.

"Luckily no one was below it at that time," he said on his Facebook page.

Clinic staff immediately evacuated the area and closed it for repairs.

Sabah Health Department director Christina Rundi said patients were told to take their medicine from the pharmacy storeroom.

"Our engineers have gone to assess the damage and repair works are expected to commence on Thursday," she said in a statement.
