PETALING JAYA (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - A Malaysian doctor working in Britain has pleaded guilty in a London court to secretly filming over 1,000 people without their knowledge with hidden cameras at public places, toilets and even in his own house.

The BBC reported on Tuesday evening that Yeoh Lam Hoe, a hearing consultant, admitted to seven counts of voyeurism, six charges of making indecent images of a child and one of possessing extreme pornography at the Croydon Crown Court, after being arrested in April at the privately-run St Anthony's Hospital in North Cheam, Surrey.

Yeoh's 57-year old wife, Ivy Muihong Sng had one count of voyeurism against her dropped.

The court had heard that Yeoh had recorded over 1,000 people using cameras disguised as pen drives and watches to make recordings at different locations in Britain, including medical facilities in Exeter, Sutton, south London, the Portland Hospital in central London, and Thames Ditton in Surrey.

Yeoh, who lives in Banstead, Surrey, had also recorded short videos in the toilets of a Nottingham clinic, on trains and even at his own home during a social event.

The Court heard that Yeoh had captured more than 1,000 people in his videos, with a few identifiable victims between Jan 1, 2011 and April 15 this year.

The BBC said he is expected to face a jail term when he is sentenced on Wednesday, with prosecutor, Peter Clement describing Yeoh's voyeurism as "vast and beyond any previously investigated by the London Metropolitan Police".

Clement said that Yeoh's crimes were discovered when he had left a recording device in a toilet block at St Anthony's Hospital near a desk where two women were working.

"The device fell from the position when it was recovered by one of the two ladies. Examination that day showed the device had captured and recorded one of those ladies using the lavatory. But he had inadvertently filmed himself securing that device," said Clement.

The BBC reported that Yeoh had used graphic descriptions to label footage he had recorded, and that several children aged between three and 14 featured in Yeoh's footage.

He had made indecent images featuring six different children.

Clement also said that when Yeoh was arrested, he had a USB drive hanging from his neck, containing footage labelled "Cardiff Train Teenager".

Yeoh's counsel, Sally O'Neill QC had said he had a "collecting obsession", and that his personality had changed after a month-long hospitalisation in 1984.

She had also told the court Yeoh felt a "great weight had been lifted off his shoulders" when his crimes were discovered.

"The depth of shame he feels about his conduct over those three years really can not be expressed," she said, reported the BBC.
