MELAKA – A seven-year-old boy has died after being hit on Oct 22 by heavy debris from a decorative concrete slab that fell off a three-storey building at Komplex Al-Azim in Bukit Baru, Melaka.

The boy’s five-year-old brother and their 42-year-old father escaped the incident with minor injuries, said Melaka police.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit said police identified the boy who died as Ong Lun Keat, from Taman Bukit Baru Solok Bukit Pulau.

“The deceased and his brother had accompanied their father to a bank next to the affected building when the incident happened. The three were standing outside a Domino’s Pizza outlet when they were hit by the falling debris,” he said on Oct 24.

ACP Patit said a 34-year-old Domino’s Pizza outlet manager also lodged a police report on the same day after six motorcycles parked outside the building were damaged in the incident.

He said the postmortem report carried out by Melaka Hospital on Oct 23 revealed that the boy had succumbed to multiple injuries after getting crushed by heavy falling debris.

ACP Patit added that the boy was believed to have been killed on the spot due to the impact of the falling debris.

When interviewed, eyewitnesses said the boy and his brother were taken to the bank by the father on a motorcycle before the incident occurred. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
