THE body of an Estonian model who died in Malaysia will be flown home by her boyfriend's family, after her own family said they were too poor to pay RM120,000 (S$46,935) for her final journey home.

Ms Soosalu's brother, Silver, told the Malay Mail yesterday that the family of Tunku Alang Reza Tunku Ibrahim, 28, who is of Johor royal blood, would also make all the arrangements to get her remains back to Estonia.

Earlier, Ms Soosalu's family told the media they would be cremating the 29-year-old model's body in Malaysia as they did not have the financial means to bring it home.

They said that a foreign airline was charging them RM120,000 to transport her remains.

Ms Soosalu's body was found on July 1 on a beach at Pulau Rawa off Johor where she was initially thought to have drowned.

But suspicious wounds on her body have led the police to classify her death as a murder case and arrested 11 people, including her boyfriend.

The remand order for Tunku Alang Reza and five others was supposed to end yesterday but it was not known if they have been released, the news website reported.
