Malaysia's new government marks 100 days in power today. In the first of a two-parter, The Straits Times Malaysia Bureau takes a look at how it has fared on various counts.

Days before he chalked off 100 days in power, Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad was still in a honeymoon period after his shock return to power at age 93, according to opinion polls.

But typical of him, and more so because he is a man in a hurry, having agreed to hand over power to deputy-turned-nemesis-turned-ally Anwar Ibrahim, he has hardly stopped to celebrate.
