Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad selecting his official portrait last week with the help of the Department of Information's visual communications and graphics division director, Mr Mohd Roffee Mohamad. Tun Dr Mahathir, who celebrated his 93rd birthday yesterday, will soon have his framed picture adorn government offices again after leading his Pakatan Harapan coalition to victory in the May election. The new portrait features a smiling Dr Mahathir in a pink traditional Malay outfit complete with a songkok. Framed photographs of Dr Mahathir were last taken down in 2003, when he left office after a 22-year stint as prime minister. In addition to being the first Malaysian politician to be elected prime minister twice, Dr Mahathir is also the world's oldest serving prime minister.
