SINGAPORE - Ms Louise Sidharta was on the way to the airport in Surabaya for the 1.25pm flight to Singapore, where she was supposed to join her fiance and his family, when she heard that AirAsia flight QZ8501 had gone missing.

She checked online and confirmed that it was the flight that her fiance Alain, a 27-year-old Indonesian entrepreneur, had taken along with his three brothers and parents.

Ms Sidharta, 25, told The Straits Times after landing at Changi Airport that she travelled on a separate flight because her fiance was travelling with his family in what was supposed to be their last holiday together before the couple got married in May next year. She only decided later to join them.
