Seven Singaporean hikers trapped from Friday on Mount Raung in Indonesia's East Java province after forest fires broke out, blocking the climbing route, were evacuated to safety yesterday morning.
They were part of a group of 13 - the rest are Indonesians - who were taken safely from the camp they were stranded at to base camp by 10.30am, said Dr Agus Wibowo, spokesman for Indonesia's national disaster management agency (BPNB).
