7 injured after clothes dryer machine near Bangkok blows up

BANGKOK - Seven people were injured when a clothes dryer machine at a laundromat north of the Thai capital Bangkok exploded on Monday (Oct 9), Thai media reports said.

Police said the explosion at the La-ong Fong laundromat, located at a shophouse building in the Pakkret district of Nonthaburi province, north of Bangkok, happened at 10.30am local time.

The explosion badly damaged the front of the shop and officials were trying to determine the cause of the explosion.

The Bangkok Post reported that rescue workers had to use hydraulic wedge jacks to release five of the victims who were trapped under the debris followjng the explosion.

Other reports said eight people had been injured in the incident.

All of the injured have been taken to hospital.

Police said two of the injured were children.
