JAKARTA -An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale jolted Gorontalo of Indonesia on Sunday morning, it was reported.
The quake hit at 5.28am local time (6.28am Singapore time) and centred at 40km southwest Boalmo of Gorontalo, Xinhua news agency reported, citing the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency.
It was located at a depth of 111 km under sea bed, an official of the agency said.
Indonesia is prone to quake as it lies on a vulnerable quake-hit zone called "the Pacific Ring of Fire."
