A five-year-old boy was accidentally left behind at a restaurant in Malaysia, and his family did not realise he was missing until 1½ hours later.
Diners at an eatery in Temerloh town, in the state of Pahang, spotted the child alone at 10pm on July 26 and alerted the police.
“The boy was found in good condition, but (he) is not good at communicating. He is estimated to be about five-years-old and is now at the Temerloh police station,” the town’s police said in a Facebook post on July 27.
The family had stopped at the restaurant for supper in two vehicles, according to Malaysian news reports.
“The child had initially wanted to follow his father’s cousin but did not get onto the vehicle,” said Temerloh district police chief Mazlan Hassan.
“The family only realised he was not with them when they reached Gambang.”
The distance between Temerloh and Gambang is 110km, or 1½ hours by car.
A family member contacted the police at 11.30pm and was relieved to learn the boy was with them, the police chief said.
They eventually picked him up at 12.40am on July 27.
