ALOR SETAR (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - At least five luxury cars were splashed with liquid believed to be acid at a shopping mall and nearby areas in Alor Setar, Kedah.

The pictures of the vandalised cars have gone viral on Facebook.

A BMW and a Honda Accord were vandalised inside the parking lot of the shopping mall on Saturday (Sept 9).

Three other vehicles including a Toyota Vellfire and a Mercedes-Benz were vandalised near the mall on Wednesday and Thursday.

Kota Setar district deputy police chief Superintendent Yazri Ismail said a report was received at 12.10am Sunday over the incident from a 42-year-old woman.

"In her report, the woman said she parked her car at the mall's parking lot and when she returned to the car at about 10pm, she found that her vehicle was splashed with acid.

"The case will be investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief," he said.
